Finnish Association of Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology

Finnish Association of Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology (FAFAA) (Suomen forensisen arkeologian ja osteologian seura ry.) is an official association registered in 2006. It promotes Forensic Archaeological and Anthropological research in Finland and works as a co-operation forum for archaeologists, forensic scientists, police and other practitioners in the field. To reach these ends the association can:

  • perform research, public relations and publication work connected to forensic archaeology and anthropology
  • arrange meetings for the members
  • arrange seminars, discussion forums, meetings, and training for the members, as well as take part in similar occasions
  • suggest initiatives for different authorities
  • offer specialist services
  • co-operate with other associations in the field.

Previously the association has visited the Department of Forensic Medicine, University of Helsinki and the Finnish Criminal Police to get familiar with the research practiced by these institutions. Members of the association have also taken part in specialist training courses, for example on various workshops arranged by the Department of Forensic Medicine, University of Helsinki. You can follow us on Facebook.

You can apply for the membership by sending an informal application to the FAFAA committee. Membership fee is 5 € for students and 10 € for others.

You are more than welcome to join us in developing this organization!
